Foraged Rope

A collaboration with artist Hanna Varga — @walkinglantern. She taught me to weave various plant fibres into two and three ply ropes, and together we designed some workshops to weave people into the fabric of the land using this heritage artform. I enjoyed discovering new properties of plants I’ve been familiar with most of my life, and the very different approach each one demands when making use of their fibres.

The favourite plant fibre I discovered, most pliable and soft to work with: Hairy Willowherb (Epilobium hirsutum).
