Kinetika, Beach of Dreams

Beach of Dreams began in July 2021 as a 500-mile creative walk from Lowestoft to Tilbury, UK. The project was initiated by Kinetika, led by artistic director, Ali Pretty in partnership with Rosa Productions. Through this project, 500 x 1 mile stretches of the east coast were adopted by a member of the public who then submitted a written piece and artwork describing their love for that stretch.

Artworks then got transferred onto a hand-painted, dyed silk flag. With the flags created, the entire 500 mile stretch was walked by members of the public and the Kinetika team, with corresponding flags carried along for each mile. The project featured my Coralline Cairn as one of the miles

It is, in effect, a giant walking festival commemorating and capturing the unique relationship people have with the coast. Following its inception, the project has grown and will now celebrate the entire UK and Irish coastlines in 2025 in collaboration with various artists and arts organisations.

A Beach of Dreams invitation

Beach of Dreams offers a creative way to respond to the Climate Emergency. We are inviting people to walk together along the coastline of the UK and Ireland in a collective moment of reflection and action in the month of May 2025. It is an opportunity both to act locally and to be a part of a spectacular international movement, that re-imagines our future inspiring positive climate action. For more information.
